Set in the famous Mala Strana quarter of Prague, an historical area
protected by UNESCO in the cultural, commercial and social heart of the
city, the five-star Hotel Hoffmeister personifies the charm and romance of
this splendid European capital. Known as the "golden city of a hundred
spires," Prague's timeless quilt of architectural treasures, some dating
back to the fourteenth century, stretches from the Renaissance and Baroque
up to art nouveau and cubist styles of the twentieth century. Also known
as the "Paris of Eastern Europe" for its beauty, fascination and romance,
this magical city has been a tourist magnet for centuries.
The Hotel Hoffmeister, a luxuriously restored residence renowned for its
elegant 1920s décor, boasts a gallery of remarkable caricature portraits
drawn by Prague artist and bon vivant Adolf Hoffmeister. Depicting the
crème de la crème of the artistic community of the first half of the
century, Hoffmeister captured the essence of his famous friends and
acquaintances - Pablo Picasso, Bertold Brecht, Samuel Beckett, John
Steinbeck, Edward Albee, Jean-Paul Sartre, Salvador Dali, James Joyce,
Virginia Woolf, Charlie Chaplin and more.
The Hoffmeisters welcomed guests to their private home over the decades
and in the nineties, Martin Hoffmeister rebuilt the family home into Hotel
Hoffmeister and is carrying on the proud tradition of welcoming guests to
Prague. This architecturally interesting hotel combines comfort and
convenience with nostalgia for a more romantic era - one that valued
culture and beauty above technology and utility.
Tucked away beneath the hills of Prague Castle, near the Vltava River and
close to cultural attractions and shopping, the hotel offers 36 rooms
including eight suites and two large suites. Furnished in rich fabrics and
colors characteristic of the art-deco style, the rooms offer every modern
convenience without sacrificing charm and chic.
The Hotel Hoffmeister's renowned ADA restaurant, which offers Czech
specialties and international cuisines, attracts the elite of Prague
culture, politics and business, as well as foreign visitors wanting to
savor authentic Czech dishes. The hotel's RIA café provides a splendid
setting for casual dining in the historical heart of the city, while its
Lily Bar features selected labels from the Czech Republic's Bohemian and
Moravian wine-producing regions.
The best time to visit Prague is in the early spring or late fall - before
or after the tourist crunch, when the weather is sunny and warm.
Many of Prague's prime cultural attractions are within walking distance of
the hotel - St. Nicholas' Church, Tyn Church, Charles Bridge, Prague
Castle, the Old Town Square and its famous Astronomical Clock, Wenceslas
Square, Jewish Cemetery, the National Theatre.

Blackberry Farm
Nestled in the
foothills of the Smoky Mountains is the fabulous Blackberry Farm
Resort. Autumn comes in earnest to Blackberry in November, when
the leaves carpet the pathways and trails and transform the Smoky
Mountains into a spectacular tapestry of gold, scarlet and tangerine.
Chef Fleer creates dishes from produce grown right there at
Blackberry Farm and at neighboring forms in West Millers Cove. Take a
break from shopping, wrapping, preparations and parties and celebrate
this glorious season sooner rather than later. The greatest gift
could be taking time to relax with a good book, hiking with a
companion or enjoying a picnic with someone special. As the
shadows grow longer over Hesse Creek the peak of the trout season is
here. The cooler temperatures ignite a trout's feeding activity.
Blackberry is the first Orvis endorsed lodge east of the Mississippi
to receive the Lodge of the Year Award. Throughout December
children of all ages are welcome at Blackberry with special Camp
Blackberry activities for kids every day. It's a great place.
